Backing the scientists and operators rebuilding materials from the ground up.
Lakefusion Partners invests in climate-tech and sustainable-materials companies led by founders with deep technical and operational roots.
View Our PortfolioWe invest at the intersection of materials science and climate necessity.
Read our approach →Lakefusion's thesis is grounded in a simple observation: petroleum-derived and emissions-heavy materials — plastics, foams, synthetic leathers, industrial fibers — are being replaced by biological and engineered alternatives at industrial scale. Regulatory pressure, corporate sustainability commitments, and a generation of materials scientists spinning out of research labs are driving a structural shift in how materials are sourced and made.
What separates us is how we evaluate: Thomas Brennan operated 4,200 acres of Illinois row-crop and dairy, Dr. Mei-Lin Zhao spent seven years at Bayer Crop Science, and Anders Lindgren spent twelve years in bioplastics and engineered fibers. We do technical diligence the way scientists do — in the lab and in the field, before we ever model a market.

Operators and scientists, not career investors.
Fourth-generation Illinois farmer, former precision-ag software founder. Operated 4,200 acres before moving into investing.
PhD in Soil Microbiology from Cornell. Seven years at Bayer Crop Science leading microbial product development.
Twelve years in bioplastics and engineered fibers. MS in Materials Science, KTH Stockholm.
